Summer flying by

Are we really two thirds of the way through July? Say it isn't so. Lots of people hitting the road. Last weekend Jodi and her husband John were in town with their granddaughter Lexi. This weekend Paul and Deb are up for a long weekend visit. (Where they come from makes our current heat and humidity look downright pleasant). Looks like the former boyfriend and I have to get some road trips underway ourselves. Johnny's itching to go I can tell. Now that full time work is a thing of the past he got to play with the RV this week, doing all those guy things that only he can really love (although I do appreciate it). And since I've been off work we both don't understand anyone who finds retirement boring. Seems like we are busier now than we were when we worked full time! I still have way more that I want to do than I have time to actually accomplish.

Medically I finished the week with an appointment to see our primary care physician. Dr Lemay is on board with all the alternative paths we've been taking. So many doctors dismiss it out of hand, as if nothing has value unless it comes from the laboratories of a massive pharmaceutical company. Example: I have a weighted vest on the way. The extra weight helps build bone density. And imagine this it doesn't have any side effects, unlike the poison my former oncologist wanted to inflict on me.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. One of the must do chores this weekend is to brave the heat long enough to pull some weeks, not to mention the onions. (garlic and shallots are already out and drying).  Weeds are never ending.

Get with the program

Welcome to the Weekend!  We’re getting used to our new routine and so we have opted to share our treatment plan.  We’ve seen so many cancer patients die sick, miserable, and in great pain after trying multiple chemotherapies without considering other options that could give them a better quality of life.  Some cancer patients are aware of this, of course, but some are not and some are scared by the medical community.  We’ve decided that if a treatment sets us back the answer is no.

When you are first diagnosed with cancer you are generally rushed into making decisions by oncologists and surgeons.  In reality it is best to take a little time to research one’s options before jumping ahead with treatment.  Looking back, I wish we would have taken more time and done more research.  There are many testimonials of people who have kept cancer in remission, or even have no evidence of disease (NED) using only natural methods.  This comes with a very, very big caution-the need for personal responsibility. The only way this treatment plan will work is if we follow it closely, there is no depending on a doctor to do it for us.  We’d like to add that the methods we are using to treat our cancer are all very safe and quite well-proven.  We’re aware that treating cancer without chemotherapy can seem like a minefield to the uninitiated, but all the elements of our protocol are safe and well respected.  While they are quite time consuming, they are mostly doable in our own home.

Part one is diet.  We’ve talked a lot about what we’re doing- mostly vegetables, plus even more vegetables.  Dr. Eric has said red meat no more than 2x’s per week and only one serving of fruit per day.  Which may seem hard, but we weren’t even eating fruit before so having fruit again is very special.

Part two is detoxifying and boosting the immune system.  We are now both doing hyperbaric oxygen three times per week because breathing 100% oxygen in a high pressure environment stimulates healing by promoting the production of therapeutic chemicals throughout our bodies.  Next is our sauna- it is one of the best things for fighting cancer.  We try to use it every night, but like everyone else-life happens.  Helping the immune system also includes our weekly Myers cocktail.  It seems strange, but we really look forward to this-at least how we feel after our infusion.

Part three is juicing. We were doing nightly juicing but our schedule got a little crazy.  We do plan to get right back to the daily juicing of vegetables this week.  And we’ll be adding in some herbs from the garden to maximize the benefits of the juice.  Not to mention Johnny’s yummy kombucha.

Part four is sunshine.  Getting regular sunshine is a very important aspect of this program.  Among other things, it builds Vitamin D in our bodies, which fights cancer and many other diseases.

Part five is chiropractic.  Gentle chiropractic manipulation increases white blood cell counts (immunity). Something we both need dearly.

And finally Supplements.  Dr. Eric put me on prescription pancreatic enzymes.  It’s not for the faint of heart.  Johnny picked up my prescription and the co-pay was $297.54.  Shocked Johnny asked if that had gone through our insurance.  Sure enough it did.  Our drug print-out proudly stated that our insurance benefit saved us $1483.45!  I’m also on progesterone.  When Dr. Eric saw that my former Oncologist did not have me on progesterone he called her “lazy.”  Progesterone is a huge benefit for some cancer patients like me, but requires a doctor to monitor it closely.  Another change is I will be transitioning from prescription blood thinner to Nattokinase.  It will thin my blood, but it comes with fewer possible side effects and I’m all for that.  The next change is Ultra 40 which is beef liver supplement.  It’s the real deal too. When I have it out the dogs are very interested.  Six capsules a day to increase my Vitamin B-12 which was very low in testing.  We’re also on daily phospholipid colostrums to help heal our internal organs after the assault of chemotherapy.  The rest of our supplements have stayed the same – fish oil, multi vitamins and a few other things thrown in.

So the moral of this story is eat your vegetables so you don’t end up like us!  We are expecting a lot of family over the next couple of week.  We’re looking forward to seeing everyone.  Enjoy the weekend!
