Greetings to
all on Photo Friday! I’m now finished with
first-year post treatment doctor appointments.
This week I saw my Surgeon Dr. Kristine Slam. Not that anyone should want to have a
surgeon, but she is one special lady – I’m thrilled she’s part of my medical
team. She’s traditionally schooled, but is very open to working with Dr.
Kanodia and his integrative practices.
As a matter of fact, she and Dr. Kanodia actually went to high school
together – a bonus for all of us. She’s
pleased, but keeping a watchful eye on me.
I go back in six months to see her again.
She's always smiling |
Now with
less medical oversight Johnny and I are dealing with the daily choices we make. We’re choosing to heal and keep cancer away
using as many natural options as possible.
We’re sticking to a healthy lifestyle with exercise and diet but with
all the contradictory information researchers are putting out I’m always
questioning…Am I doing enough to keep the cancer from coming back? Are carbs good or bad? Should I be eating sweet potatoes? Is the
protein in meat good for my muscles or do hormones in the meat fuel cancer
cells? Can I have a cookie? Once a
month? Never?
I’m finding
that I do very well at home where I do not have any temptation. But at a potluck….it’s very, very hard to
walk away from a plate of frosted brownies.
I’ve read that the longer you eat healthy food and avoid temptation the
easier it is not to be tempted by sweets.
Maybe for some people, but for me I believe this will always be my
weakness/love. In other words I think it’s
*&&$(#*&.
We’ll keep
following the research and see where it leads us. Here’s a photo from Sunday. Jake, Elizabeth, Caroline and Lauren came to
the house to pick strawberries. We loved
having them here.
Looks like
it’s going to be a rainy weekend. Love
to all.
