It was a holiday weekend and we made the most of
every minute. That is to say we worked our butts off. Ever since she knew what
was coming Jeannie has been driven to get meals into the freezer for those days
she just doesn’t feel like cooking. For her birthday I bought her one of those
vacuum sealer units, having no idea how we’d end up pressing it into service.
Yesterday she roasted three chickens and made a big pot of soup. Then she took
the chicken meat off the bone. I cut firewood, then BJ came by and we split a
bunch of wood. She took one brief nap, but also got the dogs out for a couple
walks.
Today more domestic chores. I lit the smoker and put
on three racks of ribs, three whole chickens, a dozen sausages and even some
garlic. She got it all vacuum packed, ironed a huge batch of clothes. Also did
a couple dog walks. Her nephew Jake stopped by for dinner with his wife
Elizabeth and their daughter Caroline. Caroline is adorable and the greatest 20
month old to ever toddle on the face of the earth if you listen to her
grandparents.
I guess where I’m going with all this is she’s bouncing
back from Thursdays treatment and showing some amazing energy and stamina. Hasn’t
had to take one of those gawdawful anti nausea pills (or puke pills as she
calls them) since Saturday morning. Three more biweekly treatments loom. And
then it’s one a week for twelve weeks. Now if this were me undergoing
treatments I’d still be in a dark room wrapped in a blanket moaning so yes I am
in awe.
Now
we’ve thought about posting pictures here
before. We’ve actually also tried and failed. So let’s see if the worlds
most precious toddler and her father is the picture that's the charm.
What a cute baby! And the Dad has some quite muscular arms too
