Greetings
and welcome to the weekend! What started
out as my cancer story has turned into our cancer story. We are embarking on our new even healthier
livin’ plan to beat cancer and it ain’t easy.
Those of you who know us well might think we already eat pretty healthy –
Apparently we can do even more and we will.
We are
following the research of Dr. Thomas Seyfried (he is the author of Cancer as a Metabolic Disease) http://www.bc.edu/schools/cas/biology/facadmin/seyfried.html
And also the
research of Dom D’Agostino. http://ketonutrition.blogspot.com/2012/12/starving-cancer-ketogenic-diet-key-to.html
The research
is so exciting. It’s complicated, they’ve
written volumes, but the take away is that a carbohydrate restricted ketogenic
diet (and reduced insulin) helps starve all types of cancer. So that is what we are doing.
In addition
to all of these changes Johnny will be starting hyperbaric oxygen therapy prior
to starting his chemotherapy next week.
The research by Dom D’Agostino demonstrates even greater efficacy of the
ketogenic diet when paired with the hyperbaric oxygen treatments. We’re fightin’ with all we’ve got!

Along with
all of this Johnny will be doing exercise every single day! As I have warned him-if you’re not exercising
during chemotherapy the fatigue will eat you alive. So this is a big one. I understand now why so many people choose to
just take a pill. Going this route is
extremely time consuming, sometimes complicated, costly and a lot of hard
work. But for us I believe it is worth
it. We’re healthier and have more energy
that a lot of folks who don’t have cancer.
We’re still
trying to fit in nightly meditation and just living life the best we can for
us. We’re so grateful we’re even able to
follow this path. We have the support,
finances, education, organizational skills, the time and ability to do all
these extra things. It can be so over
whelming and confusing. This is a big
part of the blog and why we’re sharing our story. First to let friends and family know what is
going on and second to support others with their battle.
God bless and we will see you both next weekend! Josh and Sarah.
