Wednesday,
December 2nd was surgery day.
For reasons I don’t understand Johnny was very relaxed before his
operation. He slept well and easily. Unfortunately,
I did not sleep as well as he did.
His surgeon
was Dr. Lindsey. An intelligent and
caring man we both liked immediately. We both felt that Johnny was in capable
and honest hands.
The day
after surgery the nurses were all amazed to see Johnny sitting up the whole day
and walking the halls on a regular basis. His pain level was moderate and
easily controlled.
Although
this surgery is common, it is also pretty brutal and Johnny has a laundry list
of restrictions and cautions… all sorts of things he is not allowed to do. But for 4 days out of surgery Johnny is
strong with good color. We’ve been
taking short walks through the neighborhood with the dogs– going a little
farther each time. And our congratulations to Josh and Sarah on their wedding yesterday. Wish we could have been there to celebrate with you.
